Ideas for Wedding Music From The Louis Armstrong Society Jazz Band

LASJB plays lots of different events, but weddings are certainly at the top of the list. Here's some ideas we thought may help you plan for the right jazz band at your reception.

1. It helps to provide the the band that can entertain all of your guests. Jazz/swing music is a sophisticated alternative to the pop/rock weddings of the past few years. The key is the ability of the band to make the crowd "jump" or "swing" as the evening progresses.

2. If you're comfortable with the songs of the 30s and 40s then you may prefer to provide the band with a "play" and "don't play" list of songs. Any band should be happy to try and accommodate your requests.

3. Give the band leader a time line and general idea of how to approach the time frame. Will you have your first dance right away or later in the evening? How many special dances will there be? When do you plan to cut the cake? Do you want a 2nd line to exit the ballroom or venue that evening?

4. Make sure you the band leader can correctly pronounce the name of all members of the bridal party. This will keep things smooth for the rest of the evening.

Louis Armstrong New Orleans Jazz Band At Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival

It was a successful performance last Sunday at the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival. The Louis Armstrong Society jazz band filled the hall for two shows. Chris Fusilli wrote:

"Your performance Sunday nite at Kilbourn Hall was great!  The Society Jazz Band is truly a special group!   Everyone I spoke to, who had the opportunity to see your performances knew you all were a very accomplished group of singers and musicians!

We are Sarasota, Fl. residents, but return "home" to Rochester every summer to appreciate the family and friends and weather we have here.  It's especially wonderful to attend the Jazz Festival each year!  Thank you for being a part of it this year...."

We hope to be back there in the future!
